Concept Mobility Fund at University of Leoben

In order to transfer the mobility of students to the public means of transportation and to encourage sustainability as a university that teaches sustainability as a central element in many lectures and study programmes, the rectorate of MU Leoben has now set up a fund.

This fund will, for the time being, allow for sponsorship of semester - and annual tickets for public transport.

We as ÖH will be responsible for the allocation of sponsorships to the students.

We are very happy to announce the cooperation with the university in tackling together this service of aid and funding. Below is a list of criteria and a corresponding explanation.

Criteria

Eligibility for a funding application applies to applicants who are

  • are regular Bachelor or Master students at the University of Leoben.
  • have a valid registration for a study programme at the University of Leoben in the respective semester(s) for which the funding is requested and have not been on leave of absence.
  • can provide evidence of favourable academic success. A favourable study success is deemed to exist under the following conditions:
    • Attempt to complete at least 16 ECTS in the last two semesters prior to the semester for which the grant is requested.
    • For students with children and persons with disabilities, an attempted achievement of at least 8 ECTS is sufficient.
  • Adequate study success is not deemed to have been achieved if twice the legally stipulated study time has been exceeded.
  • Exceptions to this regulation apply to:
    • First-time admittees: For them, proof of valid admission to a degree programme applies.
    • Illness, disability and unforeseen events: If there is an unforeseen or unavoidable event (e.g. illness), a lower level of study success may also be considered adequate on an individual basis.

Students, whose semester ticket has been attained within Styria (TOP-Ticket), a climate ticket for the federal county of Styria or a climate ticket valid for all of Austria and who use this ticket for commuting between their hometown and university and back. It must be ensured that the lowest-cost option has been chosen. If not, the funding will be provisioned based on the low-cost option.

If tickets deviant from the ones mentioned above are being submitted (Annual tickets for partial track sections or similar) and are presented with reasonable justifications for purchase, the case-by-case review may lead to a funding in the respective adequate cost category.

Allocation process

  • Allocation takes place yearly in March.
  • This way, both annual tickets (climate tickets) as well as semester tickets (both winter – and summer term) may be submitted simultaneously.
  • Call for submission will be at the beginning of the new semester, the deadline for applications will be at the end of March.
  • The amount of fundings will be based on the volume of submitted applications. Via a point-based system, different kinds of tickets will be considered. Positive submissions will be provided with corresponding points, afterwards when the deadline has been exceeded the total available monetary fund sum will be divided by the respective points. The next step will be to finally determine the individual amount of funding by multiplying the tickets with a point-based multiplication factor.
  • This way, an as fair as possible split of the budget shall be achieved.
  • Point factors:
    • Climate ticket Styria: 3 (yearly)
    • Climate ticket for all of Austria: 4 (yearly)
    • Semester ticket/TOP-ticket: 1,5 (per term, amounting to 3 yearly points with two tickets)

Documents required for submission:

  • Copy certifying main residence in Leoben
  • Certificate of registration for studies and transcripts of records (passed and failed with preliminary attempts)
  • Receipt of the respective ticket
  • Document of the ticket/scan of the tickets, including clearly visible name and date of activation / first
  • Bank account details (IBAN)
  • Short description of planned distance travelled as well as usage
