Locations for studying and exams at university

Here you will find a list of the places for studying and exams at the university that are available to you.

Learning Spaces

Due to the current situation, it is not a matter of course that you have a quiet place to work in order to prepare for exams and courses or to be able to bridge the time between two attendance appointments.

We know how much you already miss studying and being at the university. Even though we are still in distance mode, we have good news for all those who can't wait to get back to the much desired learning spaces at our alma mater.

From now on there will be 20 study places available for you in the EHJ wing! The study spaces are primarily intended for those students who commute to Leoben for exams or laboratory exercises and need a quiet place to stay while waiting between two attendance appointments or for the next public transport option.

How can you secure a place to study?

From Monday to Wednesday, you can register via the social department for the following week. You will be informed by Friday whether you have been allocated a place. Due to the limited number of places available, we will rank them according to the need for a place. If there are still learning places available at the end of the course, you can also request these remaining places spontaneously.

How do you get your place?

Important for your place is the proof of a negative corona antigen rapid test not older than 24 hours from an official test centre or pharmacy. If you have an exam, you can be tested at the university anyway. If you do not have a test date, you can also select the option to take part in a test at the university in the form. You will receive further information in your confirmation email on Friday.

Also valid is proof of a negative PCR test result in the last 24 hours or, in the case of previous illness in the last three months, a certificate of segregation.

On your booked day you have the possibility that we let you in with your negative test result, between 08:00-12:00 o'clock into the university. Please contact us by phone shortly before you arrive. You can find the telephone number on our homepage. After a test before an exam, you are already in the building anyway and can come by the ÖH front office until 12 noon. If you cannot make it by 12 noon, please note this on the form.

It goes without saying that the study area can only be used in compliance with all covid-related security measures.

Online Exams at University

Not all of you have a quiet atmosphere at home during online exams, and in some places the stability of the network is not up to scratch. For this reason, we have now found a solution with the Corona team and the library.

In the reading room of the main library, it is now possible for students to take online exams in peace.

The following procedure has been agreed:

1) Registration at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with details of the date and time of the exam.

2) Coronatest before entering the main building / main library:

Either timely information to Bianca Mlatschnig (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Stefan Nemeth ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) at least 3-4 days before the examination for test allocation, or presentation of a negative official rapid test result from a recognised testing centre.

3) A negative test confirmation valid only internally must be issued by the tester and presented upon entry to the reading room.

Alternatively, negative official rapid test results from a recognised testing centre or negative PCR test results from no more than 24 hours ago are also permitted. In case of covid infections within the last 3 months, an official certificate must be presented.

4) Access to the main building and the library only with FFP2 mask in good time before the start of the examination.

5.)  Disinfection of the respective seat after the examination. Disinfectants are available in the library.

The reading room is available MO - DO from 08.00 -17.00 and Fridays from 08.00 - 12.00.

Other times of use should be arranged directly with the library team at the above mail address.

We hope that this will enable some students to have a more pleasant exam atmosphere!
